FAQ
What does missing data mean?
For Peaks to provide accurate insights, it needs access to a broad range of data.
Make sure that Apple Health is connected to Peaks. If you have an Apple Watch or fitness tracker, we recommend using its sleep tracking feature and syncing it with Apple Health. A sleep tracking app can also provide accurate sleep data if you don't have a fitness tracker.
Sleep Data
Sleep data forms the foundation of Peaks. At a basic level, you can manually input this data into the app.
Sleep Quality
Sleep quality is an indication of how restful and restorative your sleep was. It encompasses several factors:
Sleep latency: Time it takes to fall asleep.
Sleep waking: Frequency of waking up during the night.
Wakefulness: Duration you're awake after initially falling asleep.
Sleep efficiency: Proportion of time you're actually sleeping while in bed.
High sleep quality often means feeling refreshed, while poor sleep quality may lead to fatigue and increased reliance on stimulants. Ensure your sleep tracker or app can record sleep stages for Peaks to calculate your sleep quality. You can learn more about how to best track your sleep here.
Sleep Debt
Sleep debt measures the accumulated discrepancy between the sleep you ideally need (Sleep Goal) and the sleep you actually get. For instance, if you ideally need 8 hours of sleep per night but consistently get only 6 hours, you accrue a sleep debt.
It might take a few days after starting with Peaks before your sleep debt can be computed accurately.
Recovery Score
The Recovery Score unites your Sleep Heart Rate (SHR) and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measurements to give an overarching view of your body's recovery status. A higher score signifies better recovery, meaning you're ready for more physical or mental exertion. A lower score suggests you might need more rest.
To calculate your recovery score, you need a fitness tracker that captures both heart rate and HRV. If your device doesn't track these metrics, Peaks won't be able to calculate your recovery score.
