Vogelhaus Apps GmbH ("us," "we," or "our") operates an application called Peaks ("Application"). Our basic service is offered free of charge, while we may also offer paid subscriptions and/or one-time purchases for advanced features. Peaks processes data provided through Apple HealthKit or data that you manually input to calculate and store information about your unique circadian rhythm.
While we make every effort to handle this data responsibly, we cannot be held accountable for accidental data sharing caused by user error or similar incidents. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices and commitments to your privacy.
Understanding and Accepting the Policy
By accessing or using any part of Peaks, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy. If you don't fully agree with these terms, we respectfully ask that you refrain from using Peaks.
Personal Information We Collect
We collect only the personal information necessary to provide our services or to enhance our product.
Health Data
We process data from HealthKit or the information you provide to calculate your unique circadian rhythm and relevant sleep and recovery data. This processing happens on your device, and the health data never leaves it. The data you input, as well as some processed data, is stored on your device or in your iCloud account.
Other Data
Certain features in Peaks require storing personal data, such as habits and tasks, on your device or in your iCloud to function properly.
Product Feedback
We collect the content of any feedback, feature request, or issue report you submit through Peaks. You may choose to include diagnostic information during this process.
Contact Information
If you email us, we store your email address along with the content and attachments of your message.
Usage Insights
We collect anonymous usage insights that help us improve Peaks. This data does not personally identify you but gives us a better understanding of how our app is being used. For instance, during the onboarding process, we track which screens you navigate to understand user behavior and identify any potential issues that might make users leave the app. We also track the health goals you select during onboarding and the routines you enable, which helps us understand user preferences and informs future feature development. We collect data on which notifications you enable and feedback you provide on your rhythm, contributing to our rhythm accuracy metric. All of these insights are vital in making Peaks better for everyone.
Importantly, this usage data is entirely anonymous, and we cannot tie it back to any specific user. You can choose to opt out of sharing these anonymous usage insights with us at any time through the app settings. Please note that data collected via usage insights is retained for one year.
Payment Processing
We offer optional paid subscriptions and/or one-time purchases for additional features within the Peaks app. All payments for these offerings are processed securely through the Apple App Store, ensuring your financial information is handled with utmost care and privacy.
When you make a purchase, the Apple App Store may collect certain financial information from you, such as your credit card number and billing address, to process your payment. Please note that Peaks does not have access to your financial details during this transaction.

It's important to note that you're not obligated to provide any personal information we request. However, if you choose not to, we might not be able to provide you with the product or service you're interested in.
Usage and Analytics Information
We utilize Posthog, a third-party service, to track anonymized usage data, which helps us understand how users interact with Peaks and enhance the overall user experience. This feature is enabled by default, but you can opt out at any time in the app's privacy settings. Data collected via Posthog is stored in Frankfurt, Germany, for a duration of one year. Starting from Version 2024.7 we use TelemetryDeck to track anonymized usage data. This feature is enabled by default, but you can opt out at any time in the app's privacy settings. For information about how TelemetryDeck uses and stores data, please visit their Privacy Policy.
Along those we also use Sentry to collect anonymous data about the App performance. This data is only retained for 30 days and is used to resolve app crashes and improve the App performance. For more information about how Sentry uses and stores data, please visit their Privacy Policy.
Our Use of Your Personal Information
We primarily use your personal information to provide and improve the services offered through Peaks. We do not use your personal information for marketing or data analysis unless you explicitly allow us to do so.
Powering the Application's Services: The personal information collected is necessary to provide the core functionalities of the Peaks application. For example, health data you submit through HealthKit is processed on your device to calculate your unique circadian rhythm and provide related sleep and recovery insights. Similarly, other features, such as habits and tasks, rely on the data you provide for them to function effectively. All this data, except for the usage insights, is processed and stored locally on your device or in your iCloud, and we cannot access it physically.
Communication: We may use your contact information to respond to your inquiries, provide technical support, or notify you of any updates or changes to our services. In the event of a security breach, we might use your contact information to inform you about the situation and provide guidance on necessary steps to ensure your security.
Product Feedback: Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve Peaks. When you submit feedback or report an issue, we store your email and the content of your message to understand your perspective better and make necessary improvements.
Security: We are committed to ensuring your data's security. We implement various security measures to prevent unauthorized access and maintain the safety of your personal information. However, please remember that no security system is impenetrable.
Improving the Product: Anonymous usage insights collected through Posthog allow us to understand better how users interact with Peaks and which features are most popular. This helps us improve the application and tailor it to meet user needs effectively. Note that this data is anonymous and cannot be used to personally identify you.
Please note that your personal information will be stored for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected. In the case of usage insights data, the information is retained for one year. For all other data, it is retained for as long as necessary to provide you with our services.
We would like to remind you that you can request the deletion of your emails and all relevant data associated with them. For iCloud data, you will need to delete it from iCloud settings as we have no access to it. And for usage insights data, given its anonymous nature, we can't identify which data relates to a specific user.
Using Loops for Newsletter Management
We use a third-party service, Loops by Astrodon Inc., for our newsletter management. When you sign up for our newsletter, your email address will be stored and managed by Loops, in accordance with their privacy policy and terms of service.
Opting Out
If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from our newsletter, you can do so by following the unsubscribe button at the bottom of each email or by reaching out to us directly at contact@vogel.haus.
Using Arro & Formless for Surveys
We use a third-party services, Arro & Formless, to host our research surveys. If you choose to participate your answers are recorded as you provide them. If you choose to include your email address we may reach out to you. All information provided by you is stored by Arro & Formless, in accordance with their terms and conditions.
Using Superwall for Purchases
We use a third-party services, Superwall, to display paywalls. If you complete a purchase in the App, Superwall will collect anonymous insights. These allow us to better understand purchase behavior. The data is anonymized. All that data is stored by Superwall, in accordance with their terms and conditions.
Data Storage and Retention
Your data is stored for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected. Posthog data is retained for one year. For email data, you can contact us at any time to request its deletion. As for iCloud data, it can be removed by you from the iCloud settings, as we don't have access to it.
Data Sharing
We do not share your personal data with any third parties, except for the usage insights with Posthog as explained earlier.
Protection of Your Personal Information
Your personal information's security is of utmost importance to us. While no system can guarantee 100% security, we take significant measures to protect your information according to this Privacy Policy.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Should any updates be made, a notice will be provided in the Peaks app.
